Forever memories.
Fresh flowers.
I began my career in the event business in 2017 as an assistant event planner. Having always had an appreciation for the skill and thought that goes into floral design, I’d often find myself taking home the leftover flowers after an event to enjoy and even making new arrangements for fun. It’s often underestimated how much joy and light a floral arrangement can bring into a space and to a person!
During the pandemic I decided to invest more time into my curiosity, even taking a professional course in Manhattan at FlowerSchool NY just for fun. I started to freelance as a designer and slowly began booking my own personal events on the side.
Growing up I spent a lot of time in the garden with my grandmother and my parents, so I’ve always felt very connected to and inspired by the fleeting beauty of flowers. They are markers of the changing seasons, celebrations and grief.
Working with flowers and designing events made me realize how wasteful the industry can be, and how sad it is to throw beautiful flowers away after an event. I started learning about preservation and dried designs so once again I started experimenting. It began with drying and dying stems, pressing small clippings, and designing with dried and preserved flowers at home and eventually became something larger.
This medium really resonated with me and my desire to trap a little bit of that beauty and create a visual memory that can be enjoyed long term. This is where Afterlife Floral was born!
Here in my tiny corner of the internet, you’ll find a fun blend of fresh and dried designs. I take on a few fresh flower events a year, and offer select floral pressing/framing and small resin designs.
Occasionally when inspiration strikes, I’ll add a few items to my online store. You can follow me on Instagram @afterlifefloral for updates on shop drops!
